12.14 Foundation
Winuk Communications served as the PR agency of record for the 12.14 Foundation, a Newtown, CT, nonprofit organization founded in the wake of the town’s December 2012 shooting tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School.
The foundation provides programming for children, adults and professional artists to express themselves through music, dance and theater, and as a resource for healing, education, character building and enjoyment.
The agency secured media coverage and interviews for the organization’s leadership with The Wall Street Journal, BBC News, Associated Press, MSNBC, WCBS-AM, WINS-AM, Bloomberg News, Journal News, Broadway World, ABC News Radio, Hartford Courant, Huffington Post and numerous other media outlets; coordinated media relations and messaging for the anniversaries of the shooting tragedy and for several foundation-produced theatricals, including Seussical: The Musical; The Lion King, Jr.; School of Rock; Wizard of Oz; 101 Dalmatians; A Christmas Carol and others.
Winuk also negotiated relationships with fundraising consultants, other nonprofits, and video production companies; and helped stage various fundraising and special events, including with American Idol winner Scotty McCreery, who served for several years as the foundation’s National Goodwill Ambassador.
Agency president Jay Winuk also served for seven years on the board of directors of the foundation.
